Applying for Our Lost Passports

Most of our things and belongings got damaged from the flood that includes our computers from our i-cafe, furniture, appliances, household items, clothes and many others. But one of the unfortunate thing which  is very important for us was our passport. Me, my hubby and our daughter applied for a passport last 2009 because we suppose to spend a holiday in my mom’s working place in Switzerland.

Our holiday was postponed 2 years ago since my mom is the one who spend her holiday here in the Philippines. But my mom finally decided that we should push through our holiday in Switzerland this year. It was just too sad to know that the tragedy happened more than a month ago where our passports and other important papers and documents got flooded.

Surprisingly, a few weeks after the flood, I received a phone call from an unknown person and informed me that he found my daughter’s passport at the back of their house. I was really surprised because I can’t imagine how the passport went to another subdivision. Hubby and I was so happy to know that there is someone who is concerned about this thing. He knows how important this document is. I just don’t know if my daughter’s passport is still acceptable since it looks so dirty and rotten already.

Since  my hubby and I’s passport are lost, we decided that the 3 of us should apply for a lost passport. I went to the Department of Foreign Affairs a few weeks ago and asked for the requirements on how we can get a new one. I found out that the requirements is the same as the new passports. Gosh! We need to start from scratch again. We also need to provide a Notarized Affidavit of Loss as well as Police Report since our passport is still valid. We have to wait for several working days for the processing. Oh well, we need to comply all this requirements so we could have our new passports soon.

5 Dream Honeymoon Island

The big day is over, the dress is being tucked away in storage, the repeat presents are being returned and the photos are being sorted through and carefully displayed around the house. But there is one more treat in store before you start your happy domestic years of married life. The honeymoon.

We all know that however you met, whether through a singles Liverpool website or through friends, this is the part of the wedding ceremony you’ve been secretly looking forward to the most. But sometimes honeymoon planning can be overlooked in the chaos of throwing together the enormous event of a wedding. When the crucial time comes, will you have chosen the right place? Here are five knock-out honeymoon destinations to choose from if you’re still deciding…

Cephalonia

If you’ve read Captain Corelli’s Mandolin you’ll be at no loss to understand why this quaint Greek island made it on to this list. For Cephalonia is the setting of De Burnier’s heart-wrenching tale, and his description of the place would rouse anyone’s curiosity. A place of simple village life, of snails and goats, of stunning beaches, of crystal clear waters and sunlight of such intensity it takes days to acclimatise to. What better place for a romantic honeymoon?

Sardinia

Sitting just below Corsica, this Italian island is the second largest in the Mediterranean Sea. Famous for its seafood and a strange-tasting berry they use to make particularly pungent liquor, Sardinia is the perfect place to imbibe the alternative side of Italian culture. A year-round relaxed atmosphere permeates the island, ideal for a honeymoon of watching sunsets and savouring delicious meals by the lapping ocean.

Sri Lanka

If you want an off-the-beaten-track honeymoon adventure then look no further than Sri Lanka. This teardrop-shaped island tucked in beside India is a wonderfully varied country. From its gorgeous Southern beaches to its cooler central mountainous regions, there’s plenty to keep you occupied. See the mile-long carnival of elephants, musicians and fire dancers in Kandy. Visit a Buddhist temple at the full moon and join in the nationwide celebrations of that day. For excitement in a whole new and different culture, Sri Lanka is the place to be.

Bali

Another alternative honeymoon island, Bali, will also throw you headlong into another culture. But that’s not to say tourists aren’t welcome here, this is a very popular destination for many travellers, especially backpackers. Temple ceremonies, dances, volcanoes, unforgettable beaches – this Indonesian island may be small but it has everything.

Fiji

On almost exactly the other side of the world from us sits the collection of islands known as Fiji. This idyllic country would suit any honeymooner, whether you met on an eHarmony UK dating site or at school. Here you will find white beaches, blue seas and an amazing variety of vibrant marine life. Fiji is the ultimate and most convincing honeymoon cliché. But it’s just low enough on the radar not to have been ruined by popularity.

Any of these five locations would be perfect for an exotic honeymoon. Just make sure you don’t rush the decision or leave it to the last minute.

Have a Vacation with a Mission through Christian Home Exchange

Our church is actively participating in every mission or activities both from our own outreaches or together with other affiliate or partner church ministries. We have our annual gathering that includes anniversary, thanksgiving, youth camp and family camp meeting. Most of our church members is composed of young people that’s why we encourage our young gents and ladies specially those are who unbelievers to join this youth camp meeting this coming December.

I remember when I joined youth camp a few years ago, it was such an awesome and overwhelming experience. I really enjoyed all the activities that we had since all of us participated in this event. The camp was held in another place and they called it a Christian home exchange where it is considered as a faith based vacation place. If you’re not familiar with it yet, it is actually a home exchange with another fellow Christians where two households simply swap homes during their vacation.

Joining a religious clergy and activities like this is very helpful for your spiritual growth. It is a great way for you to connect with other Christians and to engage in these some kind of Christian service. Pastors who are also planning to have a sabbaticals, this is a great choice for the whole church congregation or even for a devotional for the whole family.

If you are planning to have a vacation that could help strengthen or renew your faith, you can try looking for some numerous home exchange organizations online. This faith based home exchange is definitely unique because you are seeking out people who shares your faith.

Preparing our Travel Documents for our Family Travel Abroad

Next year is gonna be an exciting year for our family because my mom invited us to visit her working country in Switzerland.  This is actually our first time to travel abroad that’s why we are all excited for this holiday. We already planned for this holiday a few years back but it was postponed since my mom decided that she will be the one who will spend her holiday here in the Philippines. But now is the time for us to visit her so we could also see the beauty of  her country where she work and live there for more than 20 years.

We already had our passports so what we are preparing now is to comply for a visa requirements at the Swiss Embassy while my mom also has to secure an invitation letter since it will be a visa for sponsored relative or friend. Another requirements that we need to comply is to show some proof of financial resources such as bank statements, proof of business since we are self-employed and  international travel insurance. The visa processing and issuance will took for up to 4 weeks so we need to stay in Manila for a month.

Preparing for travel abroad is really a daunting task especially when it comes to putting our affairs in order. There are official documents to gather so we need to organize and never lose these documents.
