Applying for Our Lost Passports

Most of our things and belongings got damaged from the flood that includes our computers from our i-cafe, furniture, appliances, household items, clothes and many others. But one of the unfortunate thing which  is very important for us was our passport. Me, my hubby and our daughter applied for a passport last 2009 because we suppose to spend a holiday in my mom’s working place in Switzerland.

Our holiday was postponed 2 years ago since my mom is the one who spend her holiday here in the Philippines. But my mom finally decided that we should push through our holiday in Switzerland this year. It was just too sad to know that the tragedy happened more than a month ago where our passports and other important papers and documents got flooded.

Surprisingly, a few weeks after the flood, I received a phone call from an unknown person and informed me that he found my daughter’s passport at the back of their house. I was really surprised because I can’t imagine how the passport went to another subdivision. Hubby and I was so happy to know that there is someone who is concerned about this thing. He knows how important this document is. I just don’t know if my daughter’s passport is still acceptable since it looks so dirty and rotten already.

Since  my hubby and I’s passport are lost, we decided that the 3 of us should apply for a lost passport. I went to the Department of Foreign Affairs a few weeks ago and asked for the requirements on how we can get a new one. I found out that the requirements is the same as the new passports. Gosh! We need to start from scratch again. We also need to provide a Notarized Affidavit of Loss as well as Police Report since our passport is still valid. We have to wait for several working days for the processing. Oh well, we need to comply all this requirements so we could have our new passports soon.

I didn’t know that you have to start an application from scratch once you lost a passport. Passport is really important now, even if you are not traveling international because it’s a valid Identification card.
