A Rare Experience in Durham, UK

Nobody in the world that has never heard of the place named United Kingdom, but not all of them know what United Kingdom really is. United Kingdom is not really a country, as it is more of a union that consists of several countries. However, it can still be called as a country to prevent confusion among the tourists who come to this region. This union has been form hundreds of years ago and it is also known as the short-form name, Britain or Great Britain. However, Britain does not represent all of the countries in the union where Ireland is excluded, leaving only England, Wales and Scotland.

To know more on the history of United Kingdom and why the union was made a couple of centuries ago, you can come to the museums that are scattered all over the country. United Kingdom is a big island, so the best way to get inside the country is by airplanes. There are many airports in United Kingdom that handles international flights so you can rest assured that tickets to this country will never be sold out. If you need a car for moving around, you can always use the amazingly cheap car hire UK services that are available at all airports in the country.

If you fancy taking a trip to the road less travelled, you can go to the city of Durham which is located in a country with the same name. It is located to the north east of England and some of the nearby cities here are Sunderland and Newcastle Upon Tyne. Durham is popularly known as a place to see the magnificent cathedral here. Durham Cathedral is a historic structure where it was built close to one thousand years ago, and you will be able to see the Romanesque architectural style that made the cathedral special.

The cathedral has three towers in total and you can go to the top of the tower to see the magnificent view here. As the tower is quite high, you will climb a total of 325 steps to go to the top, but all your hard work and sweat will be worth it after you see the greatest view on top of the tower. From the top, you will be able to see the whole city of Durham from a bird eye’s view and this is truly a spectacular sight. Durham is a popular town among the less popular places to be in United Kingdom but it is still a great venue for your holiday if you prefer a place with less tourists.

Planning a Vacation within Your Budget

While it may be fun to go on vacation with the entire family, this thought is often out on hold due to budget restrictions. With the economy still on a struggling state, most families are on a struggle to make ends meet and because of this, plans of going on a trip has to take the sideline. Yes, travel expenses could take a heavy toll on your pocket but it doesn’t have to be the case especially if you know how to plan ahead of time.

It is possible to plan a vacation even on a tight budget. The internet is still the best place to search for affordable vacation packages that are perfect for families or big groups. Start your search by having a clear idea on your destination, days of stay and desired activities during the trip.

Being organized will make your online search easier and faster. Rather than having to make separate reservations, it is ideal to get group packages that are inclusive of airfare, accommodations and tour fees. This could provide with more savings and you would only have to deal with one travel agent in case you have to make some changes.

The best way to get a good discount is to pick an off-season date. Most hotels and other tourist destinations offer lower rates due to a lower number of tourists. Take advantage of this offer and enjoy the experience without the busy crowd. Planning ahead will also allow you to save regularly which means you don’t need to make one big spending for your family trip.

Why I Like Solo Travel

I actually haven’t tried traveling in a long trip from a far away place alone but if I ever got the chance, then I would gladly accept it. I find it an exciting adventure because I can enjoy my complete freedom. I can choose to satisfy my every desire and indulgence. I can wander in the streets without a travel partner in annoyance. There is no need to sacrifice any plan for the sake of compromise, right?

This is will serve as a challenge for myself and this challenge can make me stronger. I am not responsible to anyone so every wrong step that I take, then its my fault. What I also like about having a solo travel is that I can attain deeper insights or rather I can retreat into the deepest recesses of my mind and imagination.

I am some kind of a loner sometimes and this would be a great way for me to have my own peace of mind. I find being a solitary wanderer an observant person since you  become more curious and active in your new environment. You can meet different people and despite of the language barrier, I know that it will end up in friendship.

There are so many things that you can learn when you travel alone and you can learn more tips and ideas when you visit the Solitary Wanderer‘s blog. And oh! before I forget, this lady explorer is celebrating her 2nd Anniversary Blog Giveaway where six (6) winners of cash prizes—one (1) winner of $30, two (2) winners of $20, and three (3) winners of $10—and eight (8) winners of various travel-related, beauty, and food products, all in all worth P8,000+!

Riding on the World’s Largest Passenger Jet

I remember when my mom shared to  me her enjoyable experience with Singapore Airlines A380 a year ago.  Her flight was from Zurich, Switzerland to Singapore.  She told me how huge the plane is. The Airbus A380 is actually the largest jet airliner ever built and its the world’s first full double-deck passenger aircraft.

My mom who is working at the airport of Swiss Airlines also told me that the airport where she used to work with even redesigned the airport to accommodate this huge plane.  It can pack in more passengers and cargo than any other commercial airliner, yet its designers claim it will actually increase efficiency, uses less fuel and also generate less noise.

A plane this size can potentially carry hundreds more passengers than today’s airliners. The A380′s two passenger decks can take on up to 840 passengers. Wow! I couldn’t wait to ride on this passenger jet as our connecting plane soon when we spend our holiday in Zurich.

Travel with Style

Don’t know what to wear for your travel? You can actually travel with style while still being comfortable. With a few key pieces and a streamlined strategy, you can look chic and comfy! Take a look at my mom’s  recent travel fashion and clothing style from the photos above.

When you struggle in finding what to wear for your vacation, you can  simplify it. Just remember that comfort is the key. Look for fabric that stretch like cotton or blends for your casual, warm-weather travel.Shorts and tops or skirts and tanks make an easy daytime uniform. Take a few extra tank tops to layer or to wear on their own. A bolero in basic black or white can be tossed around the shoulders, layered over a Tshirt or tank dress, or worn alone with dressy pants for dinner.

Accessories is also a must have.  Just leave your expensive jewelry at home and buy some local treasures. If you are in the islands, add a recently purchased coral necklace or straw bangle bracelets. Dress like yourself. Vacations might seem ideal for trying a new look  but don’t be tempted to vary too far from your style. Not only will you feel uncomfortable, you’ll waste lots of space and time with clothes you won’t like wearing.

So are you excited about your holiday travel now? Well, don’t groan… just think of it as a chance to play with some vacation fashion. What could be better than a break from everyday monotony and some genuine chances to rock new styles? Just don’t forget your adorable luggage to compliment your gorgeous look.
