An Appreciation and Compliment for Emirates Airlines

I just want to share my Mom and her boyfriend Markus experience with Emirates Airlines when they went back to Switzerland from their holiday here in the Philippines a month ago. Here’s the note that she posted from her Facebook wall:

“Last Thursday 28th March 2013, was our last day in the Philippines, our 4 weeks holidays are over and our flight with PAL was supposedly at 9.05 pm departure time from Cagayan de Oro City to Manila but it was 20 minutes delayed, I was so nervous because our flight from MLA-DXB-ZRH with Emirates Airlines was at 12.20 Midnight. I went out from the check-in area to go and complain to Philippine Airlines about the late departure and why they didn’t informed us.

I’m afraid I will miss my flight in Manila when I arrive there already late. The PAL stuff assured me the flight will arrive before 11pm at Manila and they will attach a priority label so we will receive our check-in luggage at Manila immediately upon arrival.
Thanks also to PAL for this immediate action to minimize delay of flight of their passengers. We arrived Manila and we received our luggage’s immediately and they organized also an airport taxi to bring us to NAIA Terminal 1. We arrived NAIA at 11.30 PM thanks God the check-in counter was still open. After checking in our luggage’s we hurried to Passport Control, my passport was okay but Markus Passport has a problem, because the police said, on his Passport he has to stay in the Philippines only until March 23, 2013 so that means he’s already overstaying in the Philippines for 5 days already.

I didn’t noticed it because normally when he’s traveling with me, he will have the same Visa like me. I don’t know why the Immigration Police only write March 23, 2013 during our arrival last March 2, 2013. The police said my travel papers are okay I can proceed to the aircraft but Markus has to pay first the overdue days to the Immigration counter, I said I will not leave this country without him. We arrived here together so we depart here also together.

The Emirates Staff heard about our problem, so they accompanied us with the security of Emirates as well. They tried to extend the boarding time because it was already past 12 midnight.Supposedly the Aircraft has to depart at 12.20PM. We don’t have pesos anymore and the Immigration counter don’t accept credit cards too. Markus has to pay 4,500.00 Pesos for the 5 days. The Emirates Staff were so concerned and tried to see if there are money changer open so that we can exchange our Swiss Francs to pay the said amount.

It’s holy week and everywhere are closed. Me and Markus are getting nervous already, we thought we can’t fly that night. But the Emirates Staff assured us that we can fly, they tried to extend the flight departure for our sake. At last thanks for the concern of the Emirates Airlines staff we were able to exchange our Swiss Francs to Pesos and paid the said amount to Immigration Counter.

The staff and the security accompanied us and they started the boarding already upon knowing that we were able to settle everything. The flight was delayed because of us and that’s a big honor for us from the concerned Emirates Airlines Staff..Kudos! Thanks a lot…for sure we will fly again with Emirates Airlines! Thanks for a job well done…next time we will check everything especially our passports..this is a lesson also for us.”

My family and I are so thankful for the concern and the immediate action that the Emirates Airlines Staff did. What an excellent service that they did for their passengers. :)

So Excited for our Family Holiday!

I am counting the days of my mom and her boyfriend’s holiday! Woohoo! My family and I are so excited for their holiday. They will be traveling from Switzerland and they will arrive here in the Philippines on the 2nd of March. They will be having their one month vacation here with us so we make it sure that we will enjoy as we spend our family bonding time together.

Its been two years since my mom spend her holiday and its her boyfriend’s first time to visit the Philippines that’s why we make it sure that they will truly enjoy their holiday here as we visit some of the most visited and popular tourist spots as well as the new and interesting places to visit with here in our city and to the other local destinations as well. We are planning to visit Bohol, Camiguin, some local tourist spots in Misamis Oriental and also at our hometown in Bukidnon.

I’m sure its gonna a fun filled family holiday for us so watch out for my upcoming travel posts because in the next few days I will blog everything that we did out from our trips and travels.  ^_^

Carry on Luggage

A month ago, my sister in law together with her four kids had their mission trip here in the Philippines. They traveled more than 13 hours from Iowa, U.S.A. to the Philippines. They have a connecting flight in Korea and then in Manila before they finally arrived here in our city.

Since it was 5 of them who traveled a long way from another country, they do have lots of luggage’s and hand carry baggage. As you can see, they have big wheeled carry on luggage’s because they know it can helped relieved the stress of lugging their luggage at the airport. Having the ability to make traveling easier is definitely easy as you are able to roll your luggage from the parking area to the airport terminal.

Carry on luggage with wheels definitely provides you with benefits of ease of using the modern luggage. It is well suited for use on any type of travel. Many travelers just like my sister in law and her kids are now using carry on bags exclusively for their travels. The usability and efficiency are just two of the advantages of wheeled luggage because of its ease of transport.

Traveling with Our Own Car

My family and I are so thankful for the bountiful blessings that God had given us. It has been our earnest prayer that we could have our own vehicle so it would be easier to us to go anywhere that we wanted to go specially when we have an important matter to go with. We badly need it also in sending and picking up our daughter in school. God finally answered our prayers! :)

This is actually a surplus Japanese mini van that we bought through car financing. We chose this car because we find it perfect for our family’s use. Its simple, practical and fuel efficient. Now that we have our own car, we have the complete mobility, freedom and ease to travel  in any destination that we wanted to go.

The Do’s & Dont’s of Passing Through London’s King Cross

London King’s Cross railway station is a hub of constant activity. Trains carrying what amounts to thousands of passengers arrive and depart at King’s Cross from all over the country at constant, steady pace all day long. It can get hectic and crowded, even with the very recently completed departures hall located directly across from St. Pancras International Station.

If you’re leaving London via King’s Cross, a good rule of thumb is to get there in time to reach your train without rushing, but don’t arrive too early. Since the station is always busy, it’s hard to find a place to sit and wait, especially if you’re carrying luggage for a long journey. While it might be tempting to get there early in order to have a meal, coffee, or other refreshments, it might be better to pick something up on the way to King’s Cross and enjoy it on your train journey. Otherwise, you may spend all of that extra free time looking for a place to sit! Don’t forget that you’ll need to pass your ticket through the barriers in order to get to your train. Wait close to the barriers and beat the rush as the platform is announced.

If you’re coming to London via King’s Cross, then be aware that you’ll need to have your ticket ready to go as you get off the train, since there are barriers in place at departures as well. Try to follow the flow of traffic and keep an eye on any luggage you might have, not only to protect yourself from thieves, but to ensure that you don’t trip up yourself or anyone else as you’re trying to leave the station!

Even with more trains and more frequent service, you may find that it’s more convenient for you to stay overnight near King’s Cross. The station shuts after the last trains arrive and depart, and doesn’t reopen until the early morning, so don’t plan on sleeping in the station! There are hotels and hostels in the area, but perhaps the best and cheapest is the King’s Cross hotel from Travelodge. Prices can be very reasonable and they offer early check-ins or late check-outs, making your entire train journey a breeze.

Travelling via King’s Cross doesn’t have to be a hassle! With planning and forethought, you’ll be sailing through the station and onto your destination with no problems at all.
